Learn to Dance With Discord

When your partner gets upset or angry, it can be hard not to feel reactive and begin feeling anxious, nervous, or upset yourself. To dance with discord means to be able to stay present and non-reactive during conflict so you can truly listen to the other person and calmly find a resolution. The term ‘dance with discord’ used to be referred to as ‘rolling with resistance’ in therapy; however, we need to remember that when someone does not agree with us, they are not resistant – they have a different opinion.
Couples Therapy Services is here to teach you and your partner how to cope with triggers and to take care of yourself so you can be present and connected during conflict.
