When the Structure Shifts
When You Are Moving Toward Divorce
This work supports you through a divorce with less conflict and steadier footing. It fits when:
- You both want to keep things peaceful for the kids, but resentment keeps pulling you back into the same fights.
- You feel paralyzed by decisions about housing, finances, and schedules, and you are not sure where to start.
- Every conversation with your soon to be ex turns into a battle, even when you try to stay calm.
- You are carrying grief, guilt, and a sense of failure that you have not had space to put down.
- You worry constantly about how your children are coping and whether they feel safe.
- You feel isolated in a world that seems built for couples, and you are not sure who truly understands.

Understanding the Work
Support for the Whole Transition
Divorce is rarely simple, and you do not have to navigate it alone. Through coaching, co-parenting work, and group support, we help you move through the legal, emotional, and parenting pieces in a way that lowers conflict and keeps your children at the center.
When the Family Structure Shifts
Divorce can feel like the loss of the family structure and a shift in self-perception, and it can dredge up feelings of failure and inadequacy. It can be one of life's most difficult transitions, yet parents are still expected to pack lunches and drop kids off at school like nothing has happened.
Many couples going through a divorce intend to keep things peaceful for the kids. When resentment builds and wrongs pile up, that can become difficult, and fighting, passive aggression, and the reopening of old hurts become commonplace. Whether you need help making empowered decisions, support in co-parenting effectively, or a safe space to process your emotions, our treatment plans are designed to help you move forward with confidence, clarity, resilience, and peace.
The Impact on Kids
No well-intentioned parents want to put their kids through a divorce, and still, divorce happens. If you find yourself here, it is important to manage the separation in a way that is healthiest for your children and the preservation of your family unit.
Children experiencing a chaotic divorce or separation are at increased risk for academic difficulties, disruptive behaviors, and depression and anxiety, which can impair their ability to self-soothe and regulate emotions. How parents handle their divorce can make all the difference. When parents undergo an amicable divorce and present as a unified front, children are at significantly less risk for acting out and can feel safe, supported, and protected even as parents transition to independent lives.
We are here to help you facilitate a healthy divorce that highlights the needs of your children, through divorce coaching, co-parenting sessions, and divorce support groups.
Divorce Coaching
Although divorce can be overwhelming and life altering, with the right support you can take control of your future. Our divorce coaching uses evidence-based treatment to help you navigate this unknown territory holistically. We start with evidence and then provide one-on-one guidance tailored to each couple's circumstance. Whether you are in the early stages of separation, in the midst of legal negotiations, or adjusting to post-divorce life, we offer support to help you:
- Gain clarity on your options and make informed decisions
- Manage the emotional and logistical challenges of divorce
- Communicate effectively with your ex-partner, legal team, and family
- Rebuild self-confidence and create a vision for your future
With compassionate coaching, you will gain the tools and mindset shifts needed to navigate your divorce in a way that acknowledges your grief while emphasizing an empowered, confident future.
Co-Parenting Sessions
Divorce changes family dynamics, but it does not have to jeopardize the well-being of your children. Our co-parenting support helps parents work together to create a healthy, stable environment for themselves and their children. We focus on:
- Developing a co-parenting plan that prioritizes your child's needs
- Solidifying effective communication strategies to reduce conflict
- Setting healthy boundaries and expectations
- Navigating parenting schedules and decision-making
- Supporting your child's emotional adjustment to divorce
We can help you co-parent with confidence and foster a peaceful, supportive environment. Doing the work during this pivotal time can make all the difference.
Divorce Support Groups
One of the hardest parts of going through a divorce is the isolation. Clients often report feeling utterly alone as they navigate this new territory, especially in a world that can seem designed for couples. Our support groups offer a compassionate community where you can connect with others who understand what you are going through. Led by experienced facilitators, our groups provide:
- Emotional support and validation from people who get it
- Practical advice for handling the emotional and logistical challenges of divorce
- A space to share experiences and receive encouragement
- Guidance on healing, self-care, and moving forward
Whether you are in the midst of divorce or adjusting to post-divorce life, our support groups offer a non-judgmental space to heal and grow.

The same skills that calm a marriage help an ending stay respectful: regulating strong emotions, communicating without escalating, and making decisions from a steady place rather than from pain.

Common Questions
Questions About Navigating Divorce
Is this the same as marriage counseling to save the relationship?
No. This work is for couples who have decided to separate or divorce. Our focus is helping you do it amicably, protect your children, and move forward with peace, not on reconciliation.
Is divorce coaching the same as legal advice?
No. We offer emotional support, decision making clarity, and communication coaching. We do not provide legal advice or representation, and we are glad to work alongside your attorney or mediator.
Can we meet in person, or is everything online?
Both. We see clients in person in Princeton and Manalapan, and we offer online sessions across New Jersey if that is easier for your schedule or your situation.
What if only one of us is ready to do this work?
That is common, and it is okay. Divorce coaching and our support groups can be deeply helpful even when you come on your own, and we will meet you where you are.
How are the divorce support groups different from individual sessions?
Groups offer a compassionate community of people who truly understand what you are going through, led by experienced facilitators, so you can share, heal, and feel less alone alongside the one on one work.
