Couples Workshop
The 7 Principles of Marriage
A weekend of guided conversation, practical tools, and time set aside for the two of you. No prior experience or counseling needed.November 14 and 15, 2026 in Princeton, NJ

About This Workshop
This is a workshop rather than therapy, built on the Gottman Institute's research-based curriculum. Over two days, a licensed couples therapist teaches the seven skills that separate lasting, satisfying relationships from the ones that struggle, covering everyday connection, communication, conflict, and shared purpose.
The group is capped at six couples, so it stays intimate. You will learn together as a group, then put each skill into practice in private exercises with just the two of you.

Is This Workshop Right for Us?
A Great Fit For
Generally stable couples who want to strengthen their relationship over a weekend. It is also a great fit for premarital couples.
Start With Therapy If
Couples currently navigating domestic violence, an unresolved affair, or an acute crisis. Private couples therapy is the better place to start, and we can help you find the right therapist.
Find Your Therapist MatchQuestions, Answered
Is This Workshop a Form of Couples Therapy?
No. While your facilitator is a trained couples therapist, this is an educational workshop: think of it as a class for your relationship. You will learn the science behind successful relationships and practice communication tools privately with your partner. Because it is psycho-educational, it does not involve clinical treatment, psychological assessment, or the processing of deep trauma.
Who Is the Facilitator?
Jessica Harris, LPC, a couples therapist at Couples Therapy Services with years of clinical experience. You can read her full bio on her therapist profile.
Who Is This Workshop Really For?
The 7 Principles of Marriage is a good fit for couples contemplating engagement, premarital couples, couples living together, and couples who have been together or married for decades. Couples looking to build on an already solid relationship will benefit most. Those with severe relationship distress, emotional or physical abuse, serious emotional or mental health problems, or active addiction would be better served by couples therapy than by this educational workshop.
Will We Have to Share Our Personal Problems With the Group?
No. The workshop is entirely educational. All exercises are done privately with your partner, and we provide a room for each couple during breakout activities.
What Is Included in the $599 Registration Fee?
Each couple receives the official Seven Principles companion workbook, couples' guides, and active relationship-building tools, taught by a licensed couples therapist over two six-hour days.
Where Will the Workshop Be Held?
At our Princeton office: 601 Ewing Street, Suite C-14, Princeton, NJ.
Why Attend the Workshop Instead of Reading the Book at Home?
It's a fair question, and there are a few good reasons. Built-in accountability: busy schedules make it easy to let reading slide. A dedicated weekend creates intentional, distraction-free time to focus entirely on each other. True partner participation: both partners are actively engaged and complete the exercises together, rather than one person reading alone. Clear goals and structure: we provide a step-by-step roadmap with clear expectations, so there is no guessing where to start or how to work through the material on your own. A comfortable first step: it offers a low-pressure, supportive environment to strengthen your bond, and it can be an approachable alternative, or a smooth bridge, to formal therapy.
What If We Can't Make Both Days?
Because the material builds on itself, full attendance is highly recommended to get the most out of the program.
